GPS Mentoring Program

All registration materials must be submitted in person to Social Science Career Services room 2040 SSC by Thursday, March 29, 2012. Space is limited and not all applicants are guaranteed a spot in the program.

Summer Internship Program

Have you secured a summer internship? If so, you may be interested in participating in the Social Science Summer Internship Program to earn a non-academic credit and have the experience noted on your transcript.

Students must:

  • Be in 2nd or 3rd year and enrolled in the Faculty of Social Science
  • Be returning to school for full time study
  • Have a 70% average
  •  Students must:

  • Be degree related
  • Paid
  • A minimum of 10 weeks in length
  • If you are interested in having your position evaluated to participate in the program please complete the following steps:

    • Submit in writing, the following information to Social Science Career Services (SSC 2040) BEFORE you begin your internship
      •  Name, address of Employer
      • Position
      • Job Description obtained through employer
      • Name of Supervisor or company contact with complete contact information ( address, e-mail and phone number)
      • Rate of pay
      • Start and end dates
    • We will contact the employer and make sure that the position meets the internship criteria and contact you with the status. If your position meets the criteria, you will pay a $450 internship fee and be required to submit both a 5 page reflection paper on your experience and an employer written evaluation on your work. Your internship will appear on your transcripts.

    Additional Questions should be directed in person to Social Science Career Services (SSC 2040)  

    Job Shadow Program

    Third-year student criminology student, Alyssa Kilby, says program has allowed her to network with individuals in the field.  Students in the job shadow program gain experience and knowledge about a career as well as make better decisions about their studies.  <more>
