Hear, Here receives ACO Public Education and Engagement Award

October 06, 2020

The Public History program's Hear, Here London project has been recognized with the 2020 Architectural Conservancy of Ontario Public Education and Engagement Award.

The project, supervised by Ariel Beaujot, Michelle Hamilton and Mark Tovey, is an audio documentary project that shares oral histories of three London neighbourhoods, South of Horton (SoHo), Great Talbot and the Village.

Short personal narratives feature historically marginalized peoples, such as fugitive slaves or Irish immigrants. Other accounts include individual narratives of nearby buildings.

Orange street signs feature story numbers directing people to a number to hear two-minute stories related to the area they are near.
