    CIHR Travel Awards – Institute Community Support (Summer 2018)

    CIHR Travel Award applications are submitted by the Applicant in ResearchNet, and there is a Supervisor/sponsor assessment required (48 hours prior to CIHR deadline).  Applicants must also complete the new CIHR Equity and Diversity Questionnaire, and choose the specific institute/initiative to which they are applying. Each funding pool has a maximum budget request.

    Research Services requests that the following files are sent to researchoffice@uwo.ca, to secure institutional signature on the Routing Slip/Signature page:

The Northern Scientific Training Program (NSTP)

The Northern Scientific Training Program (NSTP) provides funding for senior undergraduates and graduate students conducting research in the North.

The Program supports field research in any discipline - life, physical, human and health sciences - as long as the research has an essential orientation and impact on the North.

Funding is available for all complete and eligible applications that are submitted from Western. Typical awards are between $2000 and $3000, with a recommended maximum request of $4500.

Information Sessions

NSERC Alliance Grant - Workshop hosted by NSERC

NSERC program staff will be on campus next month to host a workshop for Alliance Grants, the newly re-structured Research Partnerships Program. They will be providing detailed information about the program and application process and will be available to answer questions.

Early Researcher Awards - Round 15

An information session for ERA Round 15 has been scheduled as follows; all interested applicants are encouraged to attend.

Using NVivo 12 for Qualitative & Mixed Methods Research

Instructor: Allan McDougall, MA, PhD

Instructor Bio: Dr. Allan McDougall is a qualitative researcher with the Canadian Medical Protective Association in Ottawa, ON. He is also a Certified NVivo Expert who holds a PhD in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences (Western). Allan has actively used NVivo for qualitative & mixed methods research projects for nearly 10 years. This course will include technical details on how to use NVivo combined with personal anecdotes from Allan’s lived experience as both a student and project lead.
