Dr. Elaine Bjorklund has established an endowed fund at Foundation Western to be known as The Professor Elaine Bjorklund Faculty Research Awards Fund in Social Science. Applications to the fund may be made to any faculty members who have research components to their appointment.  Priority will be given to faculty members in the early years of their career or for work that is not typically funded by external funding bodies.

Preference will also be given to applicants who apply for funding to:

  • Visit external research facilities (libraries, laboratories, archives, etc.)
  • Start new projects that may lead to external funding applications.
  • Complete projects for which funding has run out.
  • Disseminate research findings.

Recipients of The Professor Elaine Bjorklund Faculty Research Awards Fund in Social Science will be chosen by an advisory committee consisting of four (4) experienced researchers in the Faculty of Social Science each representing a different department, as selected by the Dean of Social Science.

Information about the award and submission process will be circulated by the Dean’s Office to the Faculty. The advisory committee will recommend to the Dean of Social Science the award winner(s). These research awards are renewable in that award recipients may apply again in subsequent years.

The Dean of the Faculty of Social Science shall determine the amount of award to be allocated to each recipient based on the funding needs of each approved project. A total of approximately $3,000 in income available for expenditure shall be available every second year starting in 2013-2014.

Please submit a single copy of the application form signed by your Department Chair, to the Office of the Dean of Social Science by the posted deadlines
