Meet Our Students: Celebrating Success Stories | Jeffrey Osaro
In our Meet Our Students: Celebrating Success Stories series, we proudly highlight students whose experiences reflect the impact of learning, leadership, and community engagement. This edition features Jeffrey Osaro, a third-year BMOS Accounting student whose journey at Western University has been shaped by leadership, mentorship, and a strong commitment to creating positive change.
Osaro chose the BMOS program because of his interest in understanding how organizations operate and how decisions influence people and communities. “Business Management stood out to me because it combines practical skills like strategy, finance, and leadership with a broader understanding of accounting and social systems,” he explains. “I also wanted a program that would prepare me for a career where I can analyze complex problems and help organizations improve.”
Through the program, Osaro has developed analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills that align with his long-term goal of pursuing a career in management consulting. Beyond the classroom, he has embraced experiential learning opportunities that have strengthened both his professional experience and personal growth.
In the summer of 2023, Osaro completed a Co-op placement at KPMG, where he gained firsthand experience working in a corporate environment. “The experience helped me better understand how large organizations operate and strengthened my interest in business and consulting,” he shares. In the summer of 2025, he worked with SHAD Canada at the University of Guelph as a Program Assistant, supporting students on projects focused on entrepreneurship, leadership, and social impact. These opportunities encouraged him to think critically, collaborate with diverse teams, and step outside of his comfort zone.
Leadership and community involvement have also played a central role in Osaro’s university experience. As a Perth Soph, he supports first-year students as they adjust to university life, helping create a welcoming and supportive environment within residence. “Seeing students grow more confident and comfortable throughout the year has been especially rewarding,” he says. Next year, he will continue building on these experiences as a Program Assistant on the Leadership Soph Team at Bayton Residence.
Osaro has also contributed to student organizations across campus. He previously served as Vice President of Events for Black Future Lawyers, helping connect students with opportunities in the legal field, and currently serves as Communications Representative for Pangea, a student club that promotes cultural diversity and inclusion at Western. Through these roles, he has strengthened his leadership, communication, and organizational skills while building meaningful connections within the university community.
One of Osaro’s proudest accomplishments was receiving a full scholarship from the Pinball Clemons Foundation, founded by Michael Clemons. Growing up in Toronto’s Jane and Finch community, Osaro remained committed to giving back through mentorship, community initiatives, and leadership opportunities. “Receiving this scholarship was incredibly meaningful to my family and me because it recognized not only my academic accomplishments, but also my leadership and the impact I have tried to make within my community,” he reflects.
For prospective students considering the Faculty of Social Science, Osaro encourages them to embrace every opportunity available during their time at university. “There’s only two things you leave university with, a degree and memories; so do your best to make lots of them,” he says. “Try joining student clubs, taking on leadership roles, and participating in Co-op or experiential learning opportunities which can help you apply what you learn in class to real-world situations.”
