Linguistics is the study of human language. The Linguistics program at Western is interdisciplinary, bringing together faculty members from numerous departments to teach the formal, social, theoretical and applied aspects of language. Linguistics students learn how language works as a set of rule-based systems, as well as how people use language to give meaning to our lives.
