Isabella-Sofia Saloufakou
Isabella-Sofia Saloufakou, a third-year BMOS student pursuing an Honours Specialization in Consumer Behaviour alongside a Certificate in Digital Communication, describes her co-op journey as a transformative step in both her academic and professional development. For her, the most meaningful part of the experience was the people who shaped it. “The team was incredibly welcoming and eager to share their knowledge,” she shares, noting that the connections she formed at Masco Canada helped her gain fresh perspectives on the business world and a clearer sense of the environment in which she hopes to build her career. Her internship also became a bridge between theory and practice, allowing her to apply classroom concepts to real projects. “Theoretical learning and hands-on experience are very different, but when combined, they become incredibly powerful,” she reflects. Returning to campus afterward, she found her understanding of course material deepened because she had already seen it in action. For students considering co-op, Isabella-Sofia encourages persistence and focus during the application process, which she describes as both challenging and rewarding. “I treated the job search like a sixth course,” she explains, staying organized with daily effort and a tracking spreadsheet. Her final encouragement is one of optimism and resilience: “Every rejection brought me one step closer to the right opportunity.”
